Two Basque galleries and several artists, at the ARCO Madrid Contemporary Art Fair

Madrid becomes an international benchmark for another year thanks to the prestigious ARCO Madrid 2022 contemporary art fair that will take place from February 23 to 27. The works of several Basque artists will be exhibited at the fair, where the Basque art galleries Cibrián and CarrerasMugica will also be present, as well as Consonni, a publishing house from Bilbao. A total of 185 exhibitors from more than 30 countries will participate.
The well-known CarrerasMugica gallery will bring works by artists such as Txomin Badiola, Juan Pérez Agirregoikoa, Jon Mikel Euba, Xabier Salaberria, Pello Irazu and Asier Mendizabal, as well as that of June Crespo, who this year is also participating in the Venice Biennale.
Alain Urrutia will present his project, ´Painting is a mental thing´, in collaboration with the Maab Gallery and the celebrated Italian painter Giorgio Morandi.
The José de la Mano gallery in Madrid will also display artwork by renowned Basque artists such as Jorge Oteiza, Agustin Ibarrola, Remigio Mendiburu, Nestor Basterretxea and Gonzalo Chillida.
Cibrián, a youg gallery from San Sebastian that is participating in ARCO for the second time, will bring artwork by Esther Gatón (Spain) and Susan Cianciolo (United States).
Finally, Consonni will be at Arts Libris, ARCO´s section dedicated to art publications. It is worth mentioning that this publishing house and independent cultural space located in Bilbao has been invited to participate in Documenta Fifteen, a participation that is the result of the ZABAL program with which Etxepare Euskal Institutua develops international networks that promote and facilitate the exchange and long-term collaboration between creators, professionals, agents and local and international institutions.
