The Sismògraf dance festival is held annually in the city of Olot (Girona), and this year celebrates its ninth edition from 20 to 23 April. The festival opens this year a new section, "The Eruption", which will focus on the Basque Country, with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute.

“The Eruption” is a new proposal of the Festival that focuses on a specific aspect of dance: an idea, a movement, a choreographer, a dancer, a company ... Or a territory, a particular context. For this edition of 2017 they have decided to provoke a Basque Eruption (Euskal Erupzioa), an effusion of materials from the Basque dance, and this year´s festival will schedule a cycle of dance dedicated to this particular territory.

Three companies will perform at the festival: The Endgame (Løkke | Olatz de Andrés), Barbecho (Natxo Montero_danza) and Lur Away (Company Ms. Polaroiska). The show Topa by Brodas Bros and Kukai Dantza, a co-production of Sismògraf and Umore Azoka of Leioa will also attend the event. In addition to the shows, the hall Sala Torín will become the Basque venue and several activities related to this eruption will be scheduled.

Born eight years ago with the aim of creating a meeting point between creators and programmers, the festival Sismògraf gathered an audience of 15,000 people on its last edition. Sismograf will offer fifty shows, and seven of them will be premieres and co-productions with other artistic events.
