Basque artists take part in the cultural programme "Remover Roma con Santiago"

During the months of October and November, "Remover Roma con Santiago: un cammino di cultura" is being held in Rome, Italy. The event will gather together artists from the lands through which the ancient Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago) pilgrimage passes. Several Basque artists are part of this programme, as well as the trikitixa accordion player Kepa Junkera, who offered a concert on Friday, October 13th.

Junkera is not the only Basque representative to perform at the Academy of Spain in Rome: the pianist Josu Okiñena offered a concert titled "Xuxuriak"; films including Oscar Alegrria´s Emak Bakia were screened; Felipe and Imanol Ugarte presented a txalaparta show (traditional Basque percussion instrument) and Hasier Larretxea participated in the literary event “Paisajes de retorno” ("Landscapes of Return"). In addition, Dolores Redondo will present the work “Todo esto te daré”at the Cervantes Institute in Rome.

"Remover Roma con Santiago: un cammino di cultura"  was organized to mark the 30th Anniversary of the Cultural Itineraries established by the Council of Europe in Santiago de Compostela in 1987. The programme is organized by the Cultural Office, the Ministry of Tourism, the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome and the Cervantes Institute, with the collaboration of the City Council of Rome and the Vía Francígena Association.
