Basque film series in Viña del Mar

A Basque film series will be held in July in Viña del Mar, Chile, in conjunction with the Viña del Mar International Film Festival. Three Basque films will head the bill: Amama, Oreina and Dantza.
A Basque film series will be held in July in Viña del Mar, Chile, in conjunction with the Viña del Mar International Film Festival. Three Basque films will head the bill: Amama, Oreina and Dantza.
The series will begin on July 12 with Amama by Asier Altuna. The film explores the conflict between parents and children, urban and rural, and past and present. On July 19, Oreina by Koldo Almandoz will be screened. A story about the limits of human beings and physical spaces is told through the relationship between Khalil and Jose Ramon. The last to be screened is Dantza by Telmo Esnal, a documentary that explores the cycle of life, nature and people through the dance.
The films will be screened at Palacio Rioja Decorative Art Museum and admission is free. The event will begin on July 12 at 7PM with a cocktail.
Basque cinema will also be represented in September at the FICViña International Film Festival. The featured Basque film has yet to be announced.
