Basque group Kalakan, live at "Le Rocher de Palmer", in Bordeaux

The Basque group Kalakan will offer a concert on May 29 at 8:30 pm at Le Rocher de Palmer Culture Center in Bordeaux. This renowned cultural center has included the recital in its main program, which indicates the expectation this band is creating.
Kalakan is performing internationally its second album, that was presented last April in the Sara caves. In "Elementuak", the musicians Jamixel, Thierry and Xan travel back to the roots of traditional Basque music.
This culture center is paying special attention to the Basque culture. Following the agreement signed in 2014 between the Etxepare Basque Institute, Euskal Kultur Erakundea and Le Rocher de Palmer, the latter has inserted in its annual activities AKITANIA.EUS, a new program specifically dedicated to the Basque culture, and more particularly to the Basque music. The activities are taking place in Spring and Autumn of 2015 and will include music workshops, an exhibition and several concerts, in addition to literary recitals.
In March Juan Mari Beltran, Basque musician and researcher imparted courses on Basque traditional music. The workshops were organized for the general public that attends Le Rocher de Palmer, but also for children, in a bid for school groups organized in parallel.
In March, moreover, the txalaparta was the instrument of the month in the cultural center of Bordeaux, which has dedicated an exhibition to the instrument. In addition, for a week other Basque folk instruments, brought by Juan Mari Beltran from his museum, Soinuenea, have also be shown - flutes, ttun-ttun, albokas ... -.
The activities planned for Autumn will start in November. The center will schedule a concert of a Basque group of jazz, and, together will the Bordeaux Literature Fair Literature, they also plan to organize Basque literature recitals.
