Basque language and culture at the readerships in Germany

In addition to teaching Basque language and culture, the readers of the Etxepare Basque Institute around the world also organize different activities focusing on Basque culture. From 9 to 13 April, a Basque week has been organized at the Freie University in Berlin to draw attention to the readership. Among other activities, there will be a seminar by the Basque linguist Oroitz Jauregi, who will also offer a lecture at the Frankfurt readership on 12 April.

As for the programming in Berlin, an intensive Basque language course has been organized at the university. different cultural activities will highlight the opportunities offered by the Basque language and the readership, including lectures, colloquiums, a seminar, film and documentary screenings, and literature workshops.
One of the activities is the seminar by the linguist Oroitz Jauregi (together with Mikel Santesteban), organized in collaboration with the readership at Goethe University in Frankfurt, where Jauregi will also offer a talk on 12 April.
Entitled "Basque Sounds - Lautsystem des Baskischen" Jauregi will discuss the phonetic and phonological characteristics, as well as the rhythm of the Basque language. In addition to students from the university’s phonetics department, the event is aimed at anyone with an interest in linguistics. The presentation will kick-off the Frankfurt readership summer programme.
