Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
On August 5th the Centro Navarro of Buenos Aires signed an agreement with FEVA (Federation of Argentine Basque Entities) to begin in-person Basque classes at the Centro Navarro as part of the Etxepare Basque Institute’s Euskara Munduan programme.
Until now, classes have been held online. Now for the first time classes will be offered on-site at the Centro Navarra. The first class began last Saturday, August 5, at 2:00 pm. The inauguration was attended by Centro Navarro president, Daniel Ramondegui; FEVA president, Arantxa Anitua; instructor of Etxepare Basque Institute’s Euskara Munduan programme, Sebastián Amaya from Arrecifes, Argentina. Classes will run until December.
The Etxepare Basque Institute’s Euskara Munduan programme aims to raise the level of Basque language proficiency among Basque communities around the world. It promotes training for Basque language teachers and provides aid and resources for Basque instruction at Basque centres, which are often responsible for the difficult taks of training their own teaching staff. To raise the profile of Basque studies abroad, the Etxepare Basque Institute sponsors Basque language and culture courses in 35 universities around the world, with more than 1,400 students enrolled in classes.
