Barbara Clausen is the 2023 Chillida Chair Visiting Professor at the Institute of Art History at Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt, Germany, running from April to July. Clausen will hold her final study day within the programme on 24 May. The event is part of chair promoted by the Etxepare Basque Institute at Goethe Universitat Frankfurt am Maine, Germany, and is aimed at undergraduate and postgraduate students.

The study day, entitled ‘Praxis as Space’, will include discussion on how performance, as a hybrid and discursive medium, can activate and interact with sculptural objects, environments and spaces. Praxis as Space offers a moment to reflect on how the last three years have altered and heightened the awareness and experience of immediacy in the arts from an artistic and theoretical perspective. The work of artists Esther Ferrer, Itziar Okariz and Izaro Ieregi will be presented.

Izaro Ieregi will also take part in the day’s event. Ieregi will talk about her current series of performances at Tabakalera´s Evil Eye exhibition.
