Tabakalera is partnering with Morpho during the Europalia festival to support artist mobility and encourage cross-disciplinary cultural exchange. As part of this collaboration, Tabakalera, Morpho, Europalia and the Etxepare Basque Institute have launched a residency exchange between Morpho and Tabakalera.

This year’s selected artist, Leire Lacunza Miranda, will undertake her artist residency at Morpho (Antwerp, Belgium), in collaboration with Tabakalera International Centre for Contemporary Culture and the Etxepare Basque Institute.

The residency will run for eleven weeks and will provide the space, setting and time needed to develop an art project. The residency will take place from 7 April to 30 June.

This residency is aimed at artists who wish to explore artistic practices in the Basque Country within new contexts and broaden their international reach.

Leire Lacunza

Leire Lacunza Miranda (Donostia, 1996). After completing her art studies in Bilbao, she participated in an artist residency at the Shangyuan Art Museum in Beijing. In the summer of 2018, Lacunza took part in the Tabakalera Artists’ Workshop. Her work has been exhibited at the Aire Gallery in Bilbao, the Shangyuan Art Museum, and the Horcasitas Palace.
