Libourne
Fest´arts, one of France’s leading international street arts festivals, will once again feature Basque artists in its programme thanks to the collaboration between Etxepare Euskal Institutua and the festival. Over the course of three days, thousands of spectators will fill the streets of Libourne to discover theatre, dance, circus and contemporary performance, including works by the invited Basque companies.

Connected by a strange melody combining voices, ancient instruments and modern machines, a dancer and a musician seem to engage in a dialogue. Blending composition and improvisation, this contemporary dance piece explores the body’s ability to reinvent itself at every moment.
The performance brings together two Basque artists: dancer and choreographer Amaia Elizaran and Neønymus, the musical project of multidisciplinary artist Silberius de Ura.
Ertza

Un-we means “one” in Changana, a Bantu language spoken in several countries in southern Africa. One world, one planet, one people. A people lulled by the deceptive utopia of believing they form a single community connected through social media, while inequalities continue to grow. Centuries have passed, yet the feeling of having chains around our feet remains. A performance denouncing individualism and the contemporary forms of slavery.

“You have the clocks; we have the time.” No matter how much they measure it, trade it or chase after it, Western societies always seem to be running out of time. In Africa, by contrast, time is lived, owned and built. Fortunately, dance has the power to reconnect us with the present moment. Blending urban, traditional and contemporary dance, Ertza’s performers remind us of our most precious possession: the time we have.
Ertza is a Basque contemporary dance company founded in 2004 and directed by dancer and choreographer Asier Zabaleta. Its productions combine dance with other artistic disciplines to reflect on human and social contradictions through a powerful visual and physical language. Since its creation, the company has toured extensively across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, establishing a strong international presence.

In Basque, Argilunak can be translated as “lights and shadows”. Combining dance, visual arts and live projections, this contemporary piece explores the duality between light and darkness, a symbolic boundary between the world of the living and the dead. A sensitive duet about memory and the grieving process, conceived as a journey towards transformation and renewal.
Komerobi Produkzioak is a Basque contemporary performing arts company that explores the dialogue between dance, theatre, music, visual arts and poetry. Its productions, created for theatres, public spaces and unconventional venues, stand out for their striking visual and emotional impact, while investigating the relationship between the body, architecture and the landscape.
