Festival Eñe: A Window into Basque Literature

On 14 November, Festival Eñe in Madrid will present Ventana a la literatura vasca (A Window into Basque Literature), curated by Miren Agur Meabe in collaboration with the Etxepare Basque Institute.
Writers and poets Iñigo Astiz, Maialen Berasategi, Oier Guillan, Felipe Juaristi, Edu Zelaieta and Ane Zubeldia will be joined by filmmaker Lur Olaizola and musician Ibon RG. Three sessions will bring together conversations, poetry readings, cinema and music.
Programme
19:30 · Escuchar golpes, escuchar pájaros. Iñigo Astiz will explore Gabriel Aresti’s legacy and trends in Basque poetry; Maialen Berasategi will discuss literary translation, while Oier Guillan will read poems by Sorne Unzueta and Ernestina de Champourcin.
20:30 · Somos poesía. Felipe Juaristi, Edu Zelaieta and Ane Zubeldia will discuss poetry and their work, moderated by Miren Agur Meabe. Oier Guillan will read poems by Federico García Lorca and Lauaxeta.
21:30 · Hablan las obras. Lur Olaizola, Ibon RG and Oier Guillan will explore connections between poetry, film, music and theatre through screenings, listening sessions and readings.
Festival Eñe
The 2026 edition of Festival Eñe, held in Madrid and Málaga, focuses on poetry and the centenary of the Generation of ’27. The Basque literature programme forms part of 27 horas con el 27.
