In the past two editions, the Etxepare Basque Institute has invited publishers and journalists from different countries to the Basque Book and Record Fair (Durangoko Azoka), held in Durango since more than 50 years, to learn about Basque Culture and meet different creators and cultural agents. Following the success of the previous years, the flemish publisher Jacoba Casier will visit the Basque Country on 5 and 6 December, invited by the Institute.
Casier will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the Durangoko Azoka, and will hold meetings with Basque publishers and writers to explore possibilities to translate and publish works in Dutch. She will meet, among others, Harkaitz Cano, Kirmen Uribe, Karmele Jaio, ArantxaUrretabizkaia, Patxi Zubizarreta or Juan Kruz Igerabide.
This is the continuation of an initiative that was successfully developed in 2014 and 2015, with the visit of British and Polish publishers respectively, leading to the translation and publication of 3 literary works in English and 2 in Polish.
