One such place is Montevideo, Uruguay. One of the events is an exhibition featuring images of the bombing of Guernica. Along with the photos there will be a display of some 30 paintings by students from the workshop of the Uruguayan artist Clever Lara, and three works by the artist Luis Muro. The exhibition will be on display from April 24th to 29th.
On April 26, there will be a reading of the poem Lo didier de Guernica by the poet Berdard Manciet in Euskera with Spanish subtitles.
These activities are designed to raise awareness of the struggle for the survival of the Basque Country and highlight the Basque perspective of the bombing, leaving aside issues of hegemonic struggle. The activities are also meant to raise the profile and prestige of Euskera among the Uruguayan public.
