Basque writer Iban Zaldua will be at the Hay Festival Arequipa in Peru, which takes place from 1 to 7 November. He will be in conversation with the writer Enrique Planas at the Hay Forum Digital. Titled ´A favor y en contra de la literatura´ (For and against literatura), the talk will take place online from 9-10am on 2 November in Peru (GMT-5). The two will share their thoughts on their affinity with the short story genre, the themes Zaldua covers in his books and the process of writing and translating his own work.
Iban Zaldua is the author of a couple of novels and collections of essays. But above all, he is a master of the short story. In this talk, the writer presents his most recent publication, ´Panfletario (2021)´, a book that compiles some of his most important work, including dialogues, short stories and pamphlets that reflect on literature in its different dimensions, translated by the author himself from Basque into Spanish.
With support from the Etxepare Basque Institute, several Basque writers take part in Hay Festivals around the world. Hay Festival Cartagena and Hay Festival Querétaro are two of them, in addition to Hay Festival Arequipa.
