Iñaki Salvador to perform tribute to Mikel Laboa at the Kanazawa Jazz Street Festival

Musician Iñaki Salvador and his band will play two concerts at the Kanazawa Jazz Street festival, Japan, on September 14 and 16. The programme features songs from Salvador’s 2010 tribute album to the lauded Basque musician Mikel Laboa, Lilurarik ez – Mikel Laboarekin solasean.

Musicians Ainara Ortega, María Berasarte, Ángel Unzu, Javier Mayor and Aitor Bravo will accompany him on the Japanese tour. The show, entitled Laboa Jazz, features versions of renowned musician Laboa’s songs recorded by his pianist, Salvador, on his tribute album released in 2010, Lilurarik ez – Mikel Laboarekin solasean. The concert will take place on the outdoor stage located next to the Oyama Shrine, Kanazawa, at 5:30 p.m.
Iñaki Salvador (San Sebastián, 1962), a classically trained musician, has spent most of his career in the world of jazz. He has produced compositions for theatre and music companies and led his own jazz bands. Nowadays, he also teaches jazz piano at Musikene, the Higher School of Music of the Basque Country.
Founded in 2009, the Kanazawa Jazz Street festival celebrates its 11th edition this year, from September 14 to 16. Jazz musicians from across the world gather every year in the Japanese city to offer over 200 events and attracting approximately 100,000 people. The three-day music festival fills the streets and halls of Kanazawa with concerts, workshops and other activities.
