Within the framework of the Jean Haritschelhar Chair promoted by the Etxepare Basque Institute at the Université Bordeaux Montaigne (UBM), University of Leeds researcher Cécile De Cat will be this year’s guest scholar.
The researcher will speak about conversational implicatures in monolingual and bilingual children aged 5 to 8. Two main activities will take place as part of the Chair: on 20 May at the UBM in Bordeaux and, on 21 May, a lecture at the Basque Museum in Bayonne.
A full-day programme has been organised in Bordeaux for this year’s edition of the Jean Haritschelhar Chair. In addition to Cécile De Cat, other specialists will participate to analyse the abilities and difficulties of bilingual children.
The following day, on 21 May, Cécile De Cat will give a lecture at the Basque Museum in Bayonne at 6:00 p.m., where she will address childhood and youth bilingualism in monolingual educational contexts.
