The International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM) is responsible for organizing this symposium, which takes place every 3 years, and for this 11th edition they have chosen 24 ensembles from all over the world, including KUP taldea. The 24 choirs who make up the final list have had to undergo a rigorous selection process, as well as being able to provide the Federation with past evidence of high-level performance. For this reason, we can say that the groups chosen to perform in Barcelona are choirs that have achieved great success and recognition in recent years on an international scale.

The theme of the 2017 symposium is “The Colours of Peace”. This will be reflected in the programmes chosen by each choir, which will be performed at different venues around the city of Barcelona. These venues include the Palau de la Música Catalana (a Catalan Art Nouveau building and UNESCO World Heritage Site), L’Auditori (Barcelona’s most recently created music venue and home of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra), the Basilica of Santa Maria del Pi and the Sagrada Familia among others. One of the programas of KUP taldea will be in euskera, created by 6 Basque musicians: Javier Busto, David Azurza, Eva Ugalde, Junkal Guerrero, Xabier Sarasola and Josu Elberdin.

It is with great pride that all the singers of KUP taldea, together with our conductor, will take the opportunity to represent choral music of the Basque Country at such a prestigious event as the World Symposium.
