Leire Bilbao will take part at the poetry translation workshop "Con barqueira e remador"
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
From 12 to 19 October the 3rd edition of "Con barqueira e remador", an International Poetry Translation Workshop will be organized in San Simon Island, in the river of Vigo. This year, the Basque poet and writer Leire Bilbao will take part, along with six other international poets, at the event which aims to promote poetic translation. She will travel with the support of the Etxepare Basque Institute.
"Con barqueira e remador" gathers 7 poets who also have worked as translators, to create a collective and reciprocal work of poetic translation. They will base on different poems, originals and translated ones, and the authors will translate them to their own language; and their work will be translated to the other 6 languages. The stay on the island will allow improving the result and interacting with the artists. In addition, a cultural program has been created within the workshop, including round-tables and recitals.
This event will be a great opportunity for Leire Bilbao: one of the objectives of the workshop is to present the work done in the home countries of the participants, and to put them in touch with the Galician cultural environment.
