Nerea Ibarzabal Salegi to undertake a creative residency at Residencia Literaria 1863

Nerea Ibarzabal Salegi has been selected to take part in a literary residency in A Coruña, Galicia, organised by the Etxepare Basque Institute in collaboration with Residencia Literaria 1863.
Ibarzabal Salegi will have the opportunity to develop her creative project during her month-long stay at Residencia Literaria 1863 in November. The goal of the residency programme is to support and promote literary creation in Euskara by providing a favorable environment, all while being immersed in a culturally vibrant place like A Coruña.
Nerea Ibarzabal Salegi is a journalist by training, and a bertsolari (Basque improvisational poet) and writer by profession. She has also worked as a scriptwriter and contributed to the press, both individually and as part of the creative collective Txakur Gorria. In 2022, she published her first novel, Bar Gloria (Susa); that same year, she also published Jakelinen egunerokoa in the field of children´s and young adult literature (Ikas Elkar). She is the current bertsolari champion of Bizkaia and was a finalist in the last Bertsolari Txapelketa Nagusia, the prestigious national championship for bertsolaris. During her creative residency in A Coruña, she will work on her project ‘Gora igo’, a collection of long short stories.
