New projects at the program Basque Studies of Boise University

With the aim of promoting Basque language and culture, the Boise State Basque Studies has launched different activities. They have organized the second edition of a Basque  literary contest, and they are preparing an annual symposium for 2015.

In collaboration with the Center for Basque Studies (University of Nevada, Reno) Basque Studies at Boise State University is sponsoring the 2nd annual Basque Literary Writing Contest.  This is an effort to encourage more nonacademic writing–fiction and non-fiction–in English on Basque related subjects. The writings have to be submitted before October 1 and the winners will be announced by February.

On the other hand, they are organizing the  “Joan-etorri Basque Studies Symposium”  a symposium in the days leading up to Jaialdi this coming July, which you can join.The immediate themes coalesce around the 40th anniversaries of the publication of the book Amerikanuak and Boise State Oñati program
