New Translators Translating Exile

Itzultzaile Berriak (New Translators), a program created by the Donostia 2016 Foundation and the Etxepare Basque Institute, with the participation of EIZIE, aims to highlight the importance of translation in the development of Basque culture and to promote it abroad by forming new translators.

Seven translators are participating in the program in six-months and one-month stays , in order to study Basque and deepen the knowledge and understanding of the language. To conclude the program, EIZIE has organized a three-day seminar on literary translation, to be held at the headquarters of the Etxepare Basque Institute. The seminar will close with an open meeting in which the participants will talk about the experience and offer a multilingual reading with musical accompaniment.
