The films in the annual Kimuak Basque short film catalogues continue to reach new viewers. Several of the shorts will be screened in Chile, Perú, Argentina and Colombia Thursdays in August and the first Thursday in September. The programme, promoted by the Etxepare Basque Institute with support from the Basque Film Archive, selects Basque short films each year and sends them to the leading international film festivals and audiovisual events. In total, 12 audiovisual works from recent years will be screened from August 5th to September 2nd in Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Bogota and Lima.
The films selected for screening on August 5th are ‘Artalde’ by Asier Altuna, ‘Lagun mina’ by Jose Mari Goenaga and ‘Deus et machina’ by Koldo Almandoz. Slated for August 12th are ‘Zarautzen erosi zuen by Aitor Arregi, ‘Ama’ by Josu Martínez and Koldo Almandoz’s ‘Quebrantos’.
On August 19th, filmgoers can see ‘Gure hormek’ by Las Chicas de Pasaik (María Elorza and Maider Fernández) and Alejandro Díaz Castaño’s ‘Ihesa’. On the docket for last Thursday in August are ‘No me despertéis’ by Sara Fantova and ‘Medvedek’ by Ainhoa Gutiérrez del Pozo. The programme will close on September 2nd with ‘Zain’ by Pello Gutiérrez and ‘Mateoren ama’ by José Mari Goenaga.
