Open call for the residence program Amphitryon 2017

Azkuna Zentroa  (Az) has just opened a new call for Amphytrion, a program of artistic residences whose purpose is to promote the production of artistic works by bringing them closer to the public and that is supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute. The selected artist will develop a project at Estudio Carlos Garaicoa  (Havana) for 6 weeks and at Az for two more months. The deadline for submission of projects will be open until March 1.

Azkuna Zentroa  (Az) has just opened a new call for Amphitryon, a program of artistic residences whose purpose is to promote the production of artistic works by bringing them closer to the public and that is supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute. The selected artist will develop a project at Estudio Carlos Garaicoa  (Havana) for 6 weeks and at Az for two more months. The deadline for submission of projects will be open until March 1.

The program of artistic residences of Az groups several initiatives to support the research, creation and production of the live and exhibition arts, and it includes two lines of residence: contemporary artistic practices and performing arts.

The residence of artistic practices is an exchange in collaboration with the program ´Artista x Artista´ that the Estudio Carlos Garaicoa carries out in Havana, while in the residence of performing arts (the call will be opened soon) Az offers to the professionals the spaces and resources to develop and produce their work.

In the residence of artistic practices, whose call will be open from February 8 to March 1, the selected artist will carry out a project in two stages. A first stage will be held in Havana, at the Estudio Carlos Garaicoa, from April 20 to June 1, 2017. The second phase will take place in Bilbao, Az, from October 3 to December 3, 2017.

Simultaneously, Estudio Carlos Garaicoa and Az will select a Cuban artist to take a similar path, creating a dialogue with the resident artist. The Cuban artist selected by Estudio Carlos Garaicoa will, in turn, hold a residence in Az from October 3 to December 3, 2017.

This program seeks the exchange of artistic processes that weave professional relations and allow to open processes of exchange and mutual knowledge between artists and cultural centers.

To enter the program it is necessary to submit a project proposal to be developed during the year, showing the artistic objectives, the means to achieve them, the space required and the estimated budget.
