This 12th edition will bring together renowned names of Basque cinema such as Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Helena Taberna, Koldo Serra, Julio Medem, Imanol Uribe and Gracia Querejeta.

When it was created 12 years ago, the main objective of the festival was to show that Basque cinema is not only created by and for Basques, but also can reach the whole world. This year they will show that again at the Cinemes Girona during the month of February. With a professional jury, which will once again put attention on the quality of the works, and affordable prices, they will offer different activities and screenings such as talks with directors, actors, screenwriters or producers.

A total of ten films will compete for the "Txapela de Oro" (6 documentaries and 4 works of fiction), most of them premieres in Catalonia. Check the entire list on this link. The members of the jury will be: Betsy Túrnez, Toni Vall, Biel Duran, Dani de la Orden and Anna Solanasek.

In addition, as every year, the festival also organizes an alternative program, AlterZinemaldia, which includes activities such as a cinema route with Pere Vall - chief editor of the magazine Fotogramas - the screening of the short films of the project Kimuak of Euskadiko Filmategia (Basque Film Archive) or the screening of Kalebegiak.
