Several cultural stakeholders and institutions of Québec visited the Basque Country the first week of July to take part in the Québec-Euskadi professional conferences – one of the first milestones of a cultural initiative aimed at strengthening the bonds between Québec and the Basque Country.
The Québécois cultural representatives visited Vitoria-Gasteiz, Donostia/San Sebastián and Bilbao on July 3rd, 4th and 5th, respectively, where they met several Basque cultural stakeholders. They had the chance to share experiences and create bonds at meetings held at the most important cultural centers in each city: the Artium museum in Vitoria, Tabakalera in San Sebastian and the Azkuna Center in Bilbao. Up to 80 Basque and Québécois participated in the conferences.
There was also time for leisure activities and visiting the tourist hotspots in each city, including Santa Maria Cathedral in Vitoria, Albaola (The Sea Factory of the Basques) near San Sebastian, and the Fine Arts Museum in Bilbao.
A few days after the Québécois delegation left the Basque Country, we made a video with the highlights of the visit:
