The Basque Audiovisual initiative will have its own space in the stand that the ICEX has in the European Film Market of Berlin thanks to the collaboration between Zineuskadi, the Etxepare Basque Institute and the Audiovisual Cluster Eiken. EFM is one of the most prominent film industry fairs, organized within the Berlinale. This is an important opportunity for Basque producers to find sources of funding channels, to establish collaborations and to create business ideas by strengthening their presence in the sector.

A catalog with the cinematographic projects in development and / or production and released this year will be distributed at the stand. On the other hand, with the idea of continuing to promote networking between Basque and international professionals and make the most of participation in the Berlinale, a matchmaker will be available to facilitate contacts between professionals accredited to the festival.

Basque companies that participate in the EFM can receive the help of the Etxepare Basque Institute to cover travel expenses, accommodation, and accreditation (maximum € 1,000). For this, the Grants to Participate in International Audiovisual Markets must be requested in 2018. This call will be published in June 2018 and the deadline for submission of applications will end in September. The only requirements are to be registered in the IAE as an audiovisual or autonomous company and to have the registered office in the CAV. When the projects that are brought to market are in Basque, companies with headquarters in the CFN and the Commonwealth of Iparralde can also apply for the subsidy.
