The novel "What moves the world" by Kirmen Uribe has been translated into Japanese and Chinese

The second novel of the Basque writer Kirmen Uribe,  “What moves the world" (Seix Barral, 2013) has just been published in Chinese (Lijang Publishing House) and Japanese (Hakusui Sha). The Japanese version was translated directly from Basque language by Nami Kaneko, as she did three years ago translating Bilbao-New York-Bilbao. The Chinese translation was written by the translator Yehua Huang (who has translated works by some other authors such as Gabriel Garcia Marquez), and  has translated it from Spanish. The translations have been supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute.

The presentation of the Chinese translation will be on the 2nd of December at the World Literature Center of Beijing Normal University. Uribe will be accompained by the critic Zhang Qinghua and the writer Su Tong. Su Tong is, nowadays, one of the most relevant writers of Chinese literature, known because he wrote the novel Wives and Concubines, filmed in 1991 by director Zhang Yimou with the title of the Dà Hóng Dēnglóng Gāogāo Guà (Palme d´Or in Cannes).

The presentations in Japan will be from the 5th to the 7th of December in several bookstores in Tokyo and Kyoto.The presentations will be attended by the Professor of University (TUFL) and writer Ryuta Imafuku in Tokyo and by the critic Fuji Hikaru in Kyoto. In addition, Kirmen Uribe will offer a recital of poems in Basque and Japanese with the poet Kejiro Suga in Tokyo.
