The Basque writer Toti Martinez de Lezea will be in Argentina in May, supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute and with the collaboration of the Delegation of the Basque Country in Argentina. Not only will she join the Buenos Aires International Book Festival, but she also will take part in different scheduled activities to promote her work and Basque culture.

The trip will start in Buenos Aires: on the 7th of May she will give a talk in the International Book Festival about “The historic novel (minor genre? Style? Literary tradition?)”, and she will also be signing novels in the Basque stand, organized by Juan de Garay Foundation. The following day, the writer will talk about “The Basque culture in my books” in  the Congress of Argentina Library.

On May the 9th, she will give two lectures in La Plata. The first one in the National University of La Plata: “A community’s memory through the oral and written literature”. The second one, in López Merino Library: “Women and literature, the difficult way of a female writer”.

The next day, she will return to Buenos Aires, in order to join the Basque collective of the city, and to take part in their meeting “The Basque woman (matriarchy, trade, survival, witchcraft, present)” in Euskaltzaleak, organized by the Basque House itself, with the support of the Basque Delegation. Besides, on May the 11th, she will be at “Buenos Aires Celebrates the Basque Country”, a festival to celebrate Basque culture, history and identity.
