On March 7th, the Spagna Plurale congress will be held for the fourth time at the University of Bologna. On this occasion, the focus will be on translation: what place do peripheral languages occupy in a globalized market? What role does translation play in national literature?
Several conferences and roundtable discussions will reflect on the situation and problems surrounding official languages in Spain and Italy, with special emphasis on translations between Basque, Spanish, Catalan and Italian.
Various translators, writers, editors and academics will participate, including Simona Scrabekc, PEN Catalá member; authors Manuel Rivas and Harkaitz Cano; translators Roberta Gozzi and Stefania Ciminelli, and editors from Nuova Frontiera publishers.
Harkaitz Cano’s book Twist translated into Italian for Libe Edizioni publishers will also be presented at the congress.
