Cazenave’s work, URAITZ, is a project that fuses photography and pictorial gesture to generate a formal encounter of symbolic character between the present and our most ancestral past.

This work reinterprets photographs taken by Cazenave over the past ten years (an approach to the soul of the Basque people, titled GALERNA).In URAITZ the artist uses a unique method, applying mineral pigments directly onto photographic copies to imbue the work with a new layer of meaning.
