As part of Norway’s Vårscenefest performing arts festival, Basque theatre will be coming to Tromsø. The companies Horman Poster and Dxusturi Teatroa will perform “Rikardo III eta ni”, a production offering a contemporary reinterpretation of a classic, on 29 April at 6.00 pm (GMT+1) at the Rådstua Theatre.

The play, inspired by Richard III, examines power, ambition and identity through a personal, ironic lens in a hybrid form that blends text, performance and visual elements.

The day after the performance, on 30 April, an open reflection session will take place at the Hålogaland Theatre (10:00–14:00), as part of the festival’s Reflection Room programme. Starting from the questions raised by the play ‘Rikardo III eta ni’, the session will explore the relationship between minoritised languages and the classics, as well as the connections and differences between cultures. In a second part, taking the dance performance Whiteout as a starting point, topics such as loss, grief, and mental health will be addressed in an open dialogue space that encourages audience participation.
