BI-FADO has been selected for the official showcase programme of WOMEX 2026, the international world music expo. The project will perform on 24 October at 11:00 p.m. on the Atlantic Connections Stage, at Sala Jerónimo Saavedra in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Bringing together Basque trikitixa player Agus Barandiaran and Portuguese guitarist Custódio Castelo, BI-FADO explores the connections between Basque and Portuguese musical traditions. Through a dialogue between the trikitixa and Portuguese guitar, the project combines the lively rhythms of Basque fandangos and biribilketas with the expressive depth of fado.

The 2026 edition marks the tenth edition of EAS-EZE. Jaime de los Ríos and Mikel Otxoteko were selected to develop their artistic projects and subsequently present them in Buenos Aires. More information about EAS-EZE 2026 on the Etxepare Euskal Institutua website.
