Working meeting with Georgian delegation

This academic year the Etxepare Basque Institute is launching a new Basque Language and Culture Chair at the Tbilisi State University (TSU) in Tbilisi, Georgia. The director of Etxepare, Irene Larraza, welcomed the representatives of the university and the Georgian ambassador on Friday, September 17th.

TSU rector George Sharvashidze, together with the director of International Relations at TSU, Tea Gergedava, and the Georgian ambassador, Ilia Giorgadze, attended the Institute´s headquarters. Garbiñe Iztueta, Head of Promotion and Dissemination of the Basque Language, also took part in the meeting. The lines of work on the part of the Etxepare Basque Institute were explained, as was the function of the Chair being launched this academic year and the possible new opportunities for collaboration between the two institutions.

In the coming weeks, Martín Artola will set the Basque Language and Culture Chair into motion in Tbilisi, in accordance with the agreement signed in 2020. In this way, he will join the rest of the language assistants in the Etxepare global network, which now operates in 35 different universities around the world.
