Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes 2026: Fenêtre Basque

The Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes (FCEN) will once again offer an extensive programme dedicated to Basque cinema, marking its 25th year. Within the Fenêtre Basque (Basque Window) section, supported by the Etxepare Basque Institute, audiences will be able to discover outstanding Basque productions and works by leading filmmakers.

In this year’s edition, to be held from 21 to 29 March, a total of 20 Basque productions will be screened: 11 feature films, 7 works from the Kimuak programme, and one miniseries and one short film. In addition, three Basque films will compete in different sections of the festival.

Special programme for the 25th anniversary

This year, the Fenêtre Basque (Basque Window) section of the Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes (FCEN) celebrates its 25th anniversary, and to mark the occasion a special event has been organised on 25 March.

As part of this event, the film ‘Karmele’ (Asier Altuna, 2025) will be screened, with the director in attendance. In addition, a live-scored screening of the short film ‘Elai Alai’ (Nemesio Sobrevilla, 1938) will be presented, with live accompaniment by Joserra Senperena.
