Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
Artistas en ruta (Artists on the Road), organised by AIE (the Spanish agency for the management of intellectual property rights for musicians), has announced the Basque groups that will be performing live in different venues around Spain in the first half of 2026: Izaki Gardenak, Marte Lasarte and Süne.
AIEnRUTa-Artists is a programme aimed at promoting live music and introducing audiences to new talent. It achieves its goal by organising a series of concerts throughout Spain over the course of the year. Many well-known artists have participated in the programme, including Hilario Rodeiro, Mirua, Silitia, Mikel Azpiroz, Nakar, Rüdiger, TOC, Aldakan, Capsula, Ezezez, J Martina, Amorante, Hofe x 4:40, Merina Gris, Neomak, Airu, Kulto Kultibo, Verde Prato, Amak, Lukiek, Ezpalak, Bulego, Idoia, Dupla, Olatz Salvador and Zetak.
Each year AIEnRuta consists of two rounds: the first from January to June, and the second from September to December. The selection of the groups is made by a committee comprising journalists, theatre programmers, and cultural professionals from all over Spain. Izaki Gardenak, Marte Lasarte and Süne will perform in the first round of the programme.
The Etxepare Basque Institute works in partnership with AIEnRUTa-Artistas to secure the participation of Basque musicians in both rounds of the concert circuit (January-June and September-December).
Izaki Gardenak
Izaki Gardenak is a rock band from Vitoria-Gasteiz, formed in 2012 with the aim of arranging musician Jon Basaguren’s songs in a full-band format. Since then, the group has developed an intimate and melodic Basque-language pop-rock sound, paying special attention to lyrics and sonic nuances. The band took its first steps with the EP ‘Itsasargiak’ (2012) and has since released several albums, including ‘Amaieratik hasi’, ‘Aurri gara’, ‘Dena oskol’, and ‘Orube’, released in 2024. In 2025, the band released its latest album, ‘Sitsak’.
Marte Lasarte
Marte Lasarte is a new electronic pop and rock band from Donostia, formed by Pello Armendariz and Borja Antón following the dissolution of the band Skakeitan. This new personal project brings together the extensive career and stage experience accumulated by both musicians. Their first singles, ‘Basamortua’ and ‘Marte Lasarte’, released in 2024, build a sound rooted in danceable rhythms, synthesizers, and catchy melodies, addressing contemporary relationships, imagery, and contradictions through light yet nuanced lyrics.
Süne
SÜNE has released his first solo album titled ‘AMAINEMAN’, featuring 11 songs. AMAINEMAN, (amain eman), translates into Spanish as “to let go,” “to flow,” or “to give free rein.” With this project, SÜNE brings a rarely used Basque word to the forefront. The songs were created from the freedom and fear that accompany beginnings, giving voice to endings and life transitions. Among other themes, the album explores tradition, the empowerment of women, and issues connected to everyday life.
