The translator Isaac Xubín will offer a talk at the University of Leipzig
Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.
On Wednesday October 28, the Galician writer, researcher and translator Isaac Xubín will offer a talk at the University of Leipzig, thanks to the readership of the Etxepare Basque Institute at the University: “Tempo de exilio. Traducir entre éuscaro y galego – Sarrionandia itzultzen”.
Xubin was recently awarded with the Etxepare- Laboral Kutxa translation Award for the Galician translation of the poetry- book by Joseba Sarrionandia "Tempo the exilio". The translator will present the work in Leipzig and will talk about the translation process, the relationship between Basque and Galician literature and about the importance of SArrionandia´s work.
With a degree in Galician Philology, Xubín has worked as a reader at the University of Cork and is currently working on his doctoral thesis. He has received numerous awards as a writer and translator and has done a great job bringing Basque and Galician languages closer one to each other: he has been one of the creators of the Euskara-Galician dictionary and has translated, among others, works by Harkaitz Cano or Kirmen Uribe.
Certainly a good opportunity to meet Xubín and his work in Leipzig.
On October 28, at 15:15. Universitätsstr NSG. 5, room 301.
