The Uruguay International Film Festival will showcase Basque cinema at its 44th edition.
This year’s programme includes the feature films ‘Aro Berria’, ‘Balearic’, ‘Eloy de la Iglesia, adicto al cine’, ‘Jone, batzuetan’ and ‘Los domingos’. Through these films, which showcase different perspectives, generations, and styles, the festival will highlight the vitality and diversity of cinema from the Basque Country in Uruguayan cinemas.
Two short films will also be included in the Basque window: ‘Ultramarino’ by Maren Zubeldia and Silvina Guglielmotti, and ‘Bariazioak’ by Lur Olaizola.
The festival will also shine a spotlight on the work of Basque creators: Ainhoa Artetxe, star of ‘Jone, batzuetan’, Gaizka Urresti, director of ‘Eloy de la Iglesia, adicto al cine’, and filmmaker Maren Zubeldia, director of the short film ‘Ultramarino’, will be attending to present their work.
