Le Temps d´Aimer la Danse 2026

From 10 to 21 September, Le Temps d’Aimer la danse will feature a strong presence of Basque dance companies and artists. Biarritz will be the festival’s main hub, while the programme will also extend across the coast and inland areas of the Northern Basque Country, as well as to Errenteria and Donostia / San Sebastián.

The initiative is part of ‘Ça colle au basque’, through the collaboration between Etxepare Basque Institute and Malandain Ballet Biarritz. This year’s programme will feature, among others, Mizel Théret / Compagnie Traversée, Collectif Ibawa, CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz, Oihan Indart, Lucia Lacarra Ballet, Led Silhouette, Bilaka Kolektiboa, Elirale, Lasala, Haatik Dantza & Jone San Martin, Idoia Rodriguez and Altraste Danza. The programme will also include work by Ballet de l’Opéra Grand Avignon under the direction of Martin Harriague, as well as Joy, created by Iratxe Ansa for Ballet de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux.

Led Silhouette will present Halley on 11 September at 7:00 pm at the Casino Municipal in Biarritz. On the same day, Collectif Ibawa will perform Gaua at the Complexe Saint-Louis in Donapaleu at 8:00 pm, before returning to the Casino Municipal in Biarritz on 13 September at 7:00 pm.

On 12 September, Bilaka Kolektiboa will perform Dirau in Bokale at 11:30 am, in Biarritz at 4:00 pm and in Bastida at 8:30 pm. The following day, the work will be presented in Barkoxe at 2:00 pm and in Itsasu at 7:00 pm. Also on 12 September, Mizel Théret / Compagnie Traversée will present Hegoak in Biarritz at 7:00 pm.

On 13 September, Elirale will present bOta at the Pétricot fronton in Biarritz at 3:00 pm, while Lasala will perform Alai Familian at Harri Xuri in Luhuso at 6:00 pm. That same day, Ballet de l’Opéra Grand Avignon, under the direction of Martin Harriague, will present Prométhée in Biarritz at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm.

Haatik Dantza & Jone San Martin will present OTS on 15 September at 7:00 pm in Biarritz. CCN Malandain Ballet Biarritz will perform L’Oiseau de feu / Boléro / Minuit et demi, ou le Cœur mystérieux on 15 and 16 September at 9:00 pm.

Oihan Indart will present Martzelina on 16 September at the Théâtre du Colisée in Biarritz, at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm. The following day, 17 September, Lucia Lacarra Ballet will perform Lost Letters at the Casino Municipal at 9:00 pm.

During the festival’s final weekend, on 19 September, Idoia Rodriguez will present Nondik in Biarritz at 3:00 pm, while Altraste Danza will perform El Bolero at the Biarritz lighthouse at 5:00 pm. On 20 September, Ballet de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux will stage Joy, created by Iratxe Ansa, in Biarritz at 9:00 pm.

In addition, on 12 September the Tabakalera Dance Space will host the professional Basque Dance showcase, organised by Etxepare Basque Institute, Malandain Ballet Biarritz and ADDE (Association of Dance Professionals of the Basque Country). Aimed particularly at programmers from the French-speaking world, the session will feature Retour à Itak by Compagnie Emilie Camacho, La senior de Larrua by Proyecto Larrua and Tupper by Osa + Mujika.

Le Temps d’Aimer la danse is an international reference festival for classical and contemporary dance. With Biarritz as its main hub, its programme extends across both sides of the Basque Country, taking over theatres, squares, frontons and other spaces. Alongside local and international companies, the festival attracts numerous dance professionals and programmers each year, offering Basque companies a valuable opportunity to present their work to international circuits and build new professional connections.
