Euskara. Kultura. Mundura.

The 24th Korrika relay race will take place from 19 to 29 March, running through the Basque Country from Atharratze to Bilbao. People from around the world will join this event to promote the Basque language. Among them are members of international universities that form part of the Etxepare Basque Institute’s network and various Euskal Etxeak (Basque Centres) around the world. Some have already taken part in the Korrika Munduan video competition. Adriana Bracciale, a Basque language student at the University of Bologna, and Mario Felipe Cancino, a member of Euzko Etxea in Santiago de Chile, were the winners.

The competition, organised by the Etxepare Basque Institute in collaboration with AEK, is aimed at students enrolled in the international network of Basque language university programmes and at Basque language students at Basque Centres. The competition involves Basque language students from around the world showing their support for Korrika through videos. In recent weeks, the videos have been available on AEK´s YouTube channel, where viewers could vote by clicking the ‘Like’ button.

Forty people from universities and Euskal Etxeak in Europe, Oceania and America participated this year. The prize for each of the two videos with the most likes – one per category – is a personalised online barnetegi intensive language course organised by AEK.

Adriana Bracciale’s video won the most likes in the university network category with 68 likes, while Mario Felipe Cancino’s video received the highest votes in the Euskal Etxeak category with 947 likes. Voting remained open until 10 March at 10:00 am (GMT+1).
