Basque production ´Maixabel´ lands 14 Goya Award nominations
Produced by Kowalski Films, ‘Maixabel’ has received 14 nominations for the Goya Awards, given yearly by the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Directed by Iciar Bollaín, the film tells the story of Maixabel Lasa, widow of Basque politician Juan María Jáuregui, who was murdered by ETA.

International Day of the Basque Language celebrated in 10 countries
Once again, the Etxepare Basque Institute will join in the International Day of the Basque Language, celebrated this year on 3 December.

‘Artistas en Ruta’ (Artists on the Road) organised by AIE has announced the Basque groups to perform concerts in venues throughout Spain in the first half of 2022: Idoia, Afrika Bibang and Dupla.

Elena Odriozola wins the Grand Prize at the Biennial of Illustration Bratislava
Odriozola won the award for her illustrations in ´Sentimientos encontrados´ (by Gustavo Puerta Leisse, Ediciones Modernas El Embudo, 2019). It is the first time a Basque illustrator has received this award.
