Saison Québec – Pays Basque presented to the public
This cultural and artistic programme will take place in the largest cities in Quebec and the Basque Country’s throughout 2021 and 2022. The idea is to strengthen the ties between the two regions through language, culture and art. The initiative is spearheaded by the Etxepare Basque Institute in collaboration with the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications.

«‘Dardara’ is a film about the emotions stirred among fans of Berri Txarrak»
Marina Lameiro documented the band’s final tour, ‘Ikusi arte’, and is about to debut her film ‘Dardara’, which means ‘tremor’ in Basque. The film will be released in cinemas from Friday 19 March following its premiere at the Punto de Vista festival.

Re-issue of ‘Basque. Bertsolaritza´, from the collection on Basque culture
The improvisational form of Basque verse singing known as bertsolaritza is a combination of emotion, improvisation, tradition and diversity. This book, written by Joxerra Garzia, explores this unique art form. It´s the second in a twelve-part collection dedicated to Basque culture to be re-published by the Etxepare Basque Institute.

Peio Aguirre, art critic, publisher and curator of independent exhibitions, is author of the first reissue of a collection promoted by the Etxepare Basque Institute.

New translations of Basque literature now available
So far, five publications have reached bookshops and the sixth is on its way. Last year, the Institute granted a total of 64,913 euros to fund 28 Basque works.
